CEMA MEMBERSHIP FEES

AIMS members who plan to do research in Algeria are expected to become CEMA members in order to benefit from valuable assistance in getting research authorization, help with finding housing and settling in, general orientation, advice on research contacts, use of CEMA's facilities (computer and printer, fax, library), invitations to lectures and other events, etc.

AIMS members:

1. Student: $US 40 / 3000 Algerian Dinars for the first four months, $US 60 / 4500 Algerian Dinars for longer stays.
2. Non-student: $70 / 5300 Algerian Dinars for the first four months, $90 / 7000 Algerian Dinars for longer stays

Non-AIMS researchers who join in Oran via CEMA are then AIMS and CEMA members. Researchers can also join AIMS online at: www.aimsnorthafrica.org.

AIMS membership sponsors:

1. The Journal of North African Studies (published by Frank Cass in London)
2. AIMS Biannual newsletter
3. Annual AIMS Roster of Members and Research Directory,
4. Annual AIMS Conference in North Africa
5. Funding support for students and scholars to undertake research in the region
6. Overseas research centers in Oran (CEMA), Tunis (CEMAT) and Tangiers (TALM)
7. Annual summer Arabic language and area studies programs in Tangiers and Tunis
8. Other professional services to its members

Any AIMS/CEMA membership paid in Sept-Dec. of a calendar year entitles the payee to AIMS membership through December of the following year. (e.g. payment Made in Oct 2007 entitles you to membership through Dec 2008).

CAORC and AIMS grantees are not charged the CEMA affiliation, as this is covered by the granting agencies.

Non-AIMS members:

• Student: $US 100 / 7500 Algerian Dinars for the first four months, $US 125 / 9300 Dinars for longer stays.
• Non-student: $US 135 / 10200 Algerian Dinars for the first four months, $US 160 / 12000 Algerian Dinars for longer stays.
